Main outcomes
1) The ISAAA Biosafety Fellowship for Philippines (September 1998) led to the first field trial application by a national institution of transgenic corn in the Philippines.

2)  The ISAAA Biosafety Fellowships for Malaysia and Thailand (  August    and October 1998)  led to the development of a draft field trial application for delayed ripening papayas in Southeast Asia.

3)  The AGERI researcher from Egypt who was supported under the ISAAA/KWS Biotechnology Training Fellowship (9 weeks in 1995) is now conducting field evaluations of transgenic potato germplasm in Egypt.

4) The ISAAA Europe/North America Study Tour (September 1999) provided participating officials with an opportunity to listen to a wide variety of views on GM crops, as the group met with a range of individuals, from industry, government, academia and NGOs.
